What sizes do Pegboard hooks come in?

What sizes do Pegboard hooks come in?

Pegboard hooks come in two sizes, 1/4 inch and 1/8 inch, which is the measurement of the diameter of the wire used to make the pegboard hook. You can use smaller 1/8 inch pegboard hooks in the larger 9/32 hole pegboard holes, but you can not use the 1/4 inch pegboard hooks in the smaller 3/16 hole pegboard.

How do you keep a peg hook in place?

Pegboard hooks have small barbs that lock into holes on both sides of the hook to keep them in place. Another approach is to add a dab of hot-melt glue to the lower leg before slipping the peg into the hole. The glue will hold well enough to keep the hook in place, but it will be removable later with a light tug.

What can I use instead of Pegboard hooks?

Plywood
Plywood. Bolt plywood to the wall where you need to hang items for easy access. Sheets of plywood can be cut to any size and bolted to the wall to form an inexpensive pegboard alternative. Tools are then hung on nails instead of hooks.

What kind of hooks do I need for a pegboard?

Many hooks have a 1/8″ thickness and are made of low-quality steel or even plastic. Hanging heavy shovels or axes from these hooks will often cause them to bend or break. I recommend you to only use 1/4″ steel pegboard hooks if you have standard 1/4″ holed pegboard.

How big are standard pegboard holes?

(Pegboard comes in two hole sizes: 3/16 and 1/4.)

How do you keep peg board pegs from falling out?

To ensure hooks won’t fall out of your board, you have 4 options:

  1. Get the perfect hooks with double peg attachment and appropriate thickness for your board.
  2. Use metal wire to secure thin hooks.
  3. Use glue or a zip tie to secure the thin hooks to your board.
  4. Use plastic peg locks.

Are pegboard hooks standard?

Pegboard hole spacing is standardized so the hooks will fit. What is NOT standardized is the hole size. There are 1/8; 3/16; and 1/4 pegboards out there. These hooks will fit the 1/4 and probably the 3/16 holes.
