Will you need a tune after headers and high flow cats on g37?

Will you need a tune after headers and high flow cats on g37?

No high flow cats do not require a tune.

Do high flow cats give you better performance?

Do High Flow Cats Increase Power? Yes and no. Yes in the sense that they allow for the more efficient flow of exhaust gasses, removing restrictions that can impede performance. Same goes for any vehicle with old or cheap catalytic converters that are impeding flow.

Does a high flow cat increase sound?

Will a high flow cat make my exhaust louder? Yes, high flow cats are less restrictive than stock and will allow more sound to pass through your exhaust system.

Is a high flow cat illegal?

To be legal in California, a replacement part such as a new catalytic converter must come with a CARB (Calif. Air Resources Board) “sticker” or must be a direct OEM replacement part. There are no “high flow cats” that have a CARB sticker issued for them.

How long do high flow catalytic converters last?

The truth is, on modern vehicles, the catalytic converter should last the life of the car or truck, given an “average” life of about 100,000 miles (160,934 kilometers). Good thing, too, because this auto part uses rare, precious and therefore expensive metals such as gold, palladium or rhodium.

Will adding a catalytic converter quiet the exhaust?

Yes. Look in to a hi-flow aftermarket cat. It will reduce your exhaust flow and power output, though.

Do catalytic converters make exhaust quieter?

A catalytic converter works by getting hot, due to catalytic action, and is getting hot to chemically reduce the emissions coming out of the engine. NO !!!

How does a high flow cat catalytic converter work?

What Do High Flow Cats Do? A regular catalytic converter works by having the exhaust gasses flow through a ceramic honeycomb structure that is coated in various rare metals. These materials are mainly Platinum, Palladium and Rhodium.

Can a stock engine be upgraded to high flow?

However, if you have a stock engine with no modifications, and relatively new OEM catalytic converters, you won’t see much of performance increase going with high flow cats. The catalytic converters on a stock vehicle (especially a newer stock vehicle) just aren’t that restrictive until there have been significant performance upgrades.

Where are the flange nuts for the cat pipes?

Removal is easy. Follow the steps in the manual. But there are flanges between the factory manifolds and the cat pipes. They are up in the engine bay, you get to them from underneath with an extension and socket. The flange nuts are 13mm.
