Re: 2005 explorer sport trac instrument cluster and… Pull the instrument cluster out of the dash check all the connectors to it for loose pins and also take a look at the printed circuit on the back of the panel, look for any obvious problems. More than likely just pulling the connectors and reinserting them several times may cure this problem.

What makes the odometer fail on explorer Trac?
All gauges and odometer will intermittently fail. If I slap the top of the dash board hard they will temporarilly come back on. Sometimes, if I push the odometer reset button, they will work temporarilly. I’m thinking….. instrument circut board. When I do the odometer button test all of the gauges sweep properly.
