Is the push button 4WD the same problem?
Is the push button 4WD the same problem?
I have a ’98 Chevy S10 with push button 4wd. It used to work but I couldn’t afford to take it anywhere. Now when I push it the lights may flash on all together, or nothing will happen and it just stays in 2wd. I’ve read about the vacuum, but that sounds like it is for a lever 4wd. Any ideas about the push button 4wd? Is it the same problem?

How does a vacuum work in a Chevy S-10?
For example, in the HVAC system of S-series trucks, most of the well-hidden doors and chambers which direct air to the proper vents are powered by vacuum. Vacuum is also used to pull the cable that slides the collar inside the front differential housing and joins the axle shafts. Without vacuum, the cable won’t move.
