Is it a problem to clean a blocked DPF?

Is it a problem to clean a blocked DPF?

Whilst a blocked DPF is a problem for you – for us it is a symptom. DPFs block due to other problems and cleaning is not enough, you need the problem professionally identified and rectified, if not done correctly the unit will simply block again after cleaning.

What happens if the DPF warning light fails?

If regeneration fails: Failure to react to the DPF warning light may lead to saturation of the DPF system. If this happens the Malfunction Indicator (MI) will illuminate indicating that a Service Regeneration by a NISSAN dealer or qualified workshop is required. The engine speed may also be limited to 3,000 rpm to protect the DPF system.

Why does my DPF diesel need more regens?

Many people have no issues with their Dpf. So i suspect another running issue such as egr or injector issues are a likely cause. Basically anything that would cause a non dpf diesel to produce smoke will cause a dpf equipped diesel to need more regens. Reply Jonathanon November 13, 2015 at 01:43

Is the DPF system good for the environment?

Yes, it is undeniable that the DPF system does filter out soot and particles which can allegedly be hazardous to health in urban areas of high pollution. However on the flip side, for the DPF Filter to regenerate itself when it becomes blocked, requires the car to be driven on a fairly long journey at continuous motorway speeds.

Why does my DPF block when I stop in traffic?

In stop/start traffic, or on short journeys, a regeneration may not get time to complete. This will cause the DPF to block partially and an orange light (left)will come on in the instrument cluster. Ignore the light and continue driving slowly or in traffic and eventually the engine will lose power and stop.

What are the causes of DPF fault codes?

P2003 Diesel particulate filter (bank 1) particulate mass too high. P242F Diesel particulate filter (bank 1) regeneration not active. P244A Particulate filter differential pressure too low. P224B Particulate filter differential pressure too high. P2452 Particulate filter differential pressure sensor malfunction.
