How do you open the rear hatch on a Chrysler minivan?

How do you open the rear hatch on a Chrysler minivan?

This sliding lock arm bar must be able to move very freely along an elongated hole in the bar held by a loose rivet. The power actuator moves the handle lock arm bar sideways and engages the outer latch release handle allowing you to open the liftgate.

What to do if your rear hatch won’t open?

Try the plug first. Pull it out, you will probably find sound deadner inslation, pull it out of the way. Then what you will find is a vertical threaded rod (from the key mechanism) attached to a clip (in the latch mechanism). The handle mechanism pulls the rod ‘up’ to unlock the door (if it is working properly).

Why is the rear hatch on my Dodge Caravan not opening?

I have a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8 AWD and the locking mechanism for the rear hatch doesn’t appear to be fully unlocking (by both the key and the electric lock), making the rear handle ineffective to open it. Anybody else ever had this problem? I expect so, huh?

Why does my rear door lock not go up?

If you remove the bad one, it will stay up. You will know it is a bad strut if it does not extend when you remove it from the door. There may even be evidence of failure such as dust collected on the failed strut from leaking oil. Or an oily coating.

Why is the rear hatch on my Town and Country not opening?

It could be a failure of the lock actuator solenoid, but in most cases, the problem involves the linkage between the latch mechanism and the exterior handle. To access the area and fix the problem, you’ll have to remove the trim panel on the hatch, which means you need to open the hatch first. Impossible? Not so much.

Why is my liftgate not working on my Chrysler Town and Country?

The driver side door would not open properly (more heavy to open manually). Currently, the rear hatch door broke in that it won’t properly open with the key. It made noise and opened partially. Then, it won’t fully open or close with motor. Manual manipulation will eventually get gate open/closed.
