Can a spark plug be removed from a Dodge Ram?
Can a spark plug be removed from a Dodge Ram?
You will need the spark plug socket to remove the plug or the telescoping magnet to remove the plug is you’re using a regular deep socket. My plugs have about 28600 miles on them and all came out looking great with normal wear on them so if yours look like the picture your engine is running fine.
When to take spark plugs out of hemi Ram?
As you remove each coil pack from the valve cover, you want to remove the wiring running to each coil pack and as you set the coil packs aside, make sure to keep track of which unit goes to which cylinder. Once all eight coil packs are out of the way, it is time to take out the spark plugs.
Can a cop ignition coil go bad on a Dodge?
Now, although the COP coil ignition system on your Dodge 4.7L equipped pickup or SUV is a major step forward over a distributor based ignition system, you still have things go wrong. The most common of failures is a COP ignition coil going bad and causing a misfire (which in turn causes the check engine light (CEL) to illuminate).
What’s the difference between DIS and Cop spark plugs?
Older vehicles with a distributor have a single coil which provides voltage to the distributor. DIS, or wasted spark systems, use what is commonly referred to as a “coil pack” to send voltage to each spark plug wire, where other vehicles use a single coil for each spark plug wire. Most newer vehicles now incorporate COP.

How do you change a hemi spark plug?
When installing new plugs, put a *light* smear of antiseize on the threads and a dab of dielectric on the end of the plug the coil attaches to. For the cylinders with little clearance, carefully drop the plug into the well, then drop the regular deep 5/8 socket, then a 3″ extension, then the 1.5″ extension.
Why does my Hemi spark plug make a squealing noise?
Coils come off easy as there is dielectric grease on them from the factory. The plugs themselves came out surprisingly hard and we’re making a scary squealing noise. This is probably due to my truck sitting a lot and it being outside 24/7 so do you expect this.
What causes a ticking sound in a Dodge Ram 1500?
A bad or failing manifold leads to decreased engine performance, and broken manifold bolts are common in Dodge Ram 1500s of all ages. The most common symptom of broken or degraded bolts is a ticking sound on cold starts, frequently heard from the passenger side of the truck.

Can you change the spark plugs on a hemi Ram?
Once all eight coil packs are out of the way, it is time to take out the spark plugs. The spark plugs for cylinders one through five are pretty easy to change, but six, seven and eight are tough. Seven is against the firewall and you have to wade through the heater hoses to get to the plugs, but the real nightmare comes with cylinder six and eight.
How many spark plugs in a 5.7 liter Hemi?
The 5.7 liter Hemi uses two spark plugs per cylinder with one plug attached to the coil pack and the other attached to a spark plug wire boot. The Hemi incorporates this design for better combustion efficiency and lower emissions.
What kind of engine does a Ram 1500 have?
The 5.7-liter Hemi V8 in the Ram 1500 is an incredible engine with some unique features. One of those features – or actually, 16 of those features – are the spark plugs. The modern Hemi engine in the Ram trucks rely on a two-plug-per-cylinder head design, making tune-ups more costly.
What kind of spark plugs do Dodge 5.7L use?
The 3.5 do, probably cause you have to remove the upper intake to change them. I have run platinum CORE plugs in everything till now, but went to iridium core, platinum negitive electrode ( Bosch Fusions) on the 04 5.7.

Why are only 30, 000 miles on 5.7L spark plugs?
The 5.7 Hemi plug is hard to come buy (dealer had half of what was needed and had to get the rest from another dealer) and expensive. Sounds like we’re stuck with the 30,000 mile change. I’ve been following this thread, but I still don’t understand why platinum-tipped plugs shouldn’t be used.
