Why do you need a camshaft position sensor?
Why do you need a camshaft position sensor?
Camshaft position sensors play an important role. They tell the computer where the camshaft is spinning so it knows how to fire the injectors and how to fire the ignition system. Common trouble codes include the following: P0340, P0341, and P2614. Watch us install a Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor on a 6.0 Ford Powerstroke.
What are the problems with a 6.0 liter power stroke engine?
1) Ford 6.0L HPOS (High Pressure Oil System) The 6.0L Power Stroke fuel injection system operates on oil pressure, very high oil pressure. Problems with the HPOS are oil leaks (internal to the engine) due to failed/deteriorated O-rings that are caused by excessive oil temperatures (bad oil cooler) and high pressure.
What does 85% PCM mean on Ford Power Stroke?
If the PCM command reaches 85%, the IPR is fully closed, which indicates a major problem in the oil supply chain. The photo above left shows a damaged IPR where the debris catch screen is almost completely gone. IPRs are common failure items and will normally point to additional problems.
How does a 6.0 liter diesel engine work?
The 6.0 Power Stroke diesel engine utilizes a single vane VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger), which is designed to reduce turbo lag and create better throttle response. When a turbocharger starts to fail it will have the same symptoms as a bad EGR valve.
What kind of pressure sensor does Ford 6.0L Powerstroke use?
Built to meet or exceed OE specs, this sensor can be used in place of the OE part numbers below.Features:Factory Replacement MAF SensorMeets Or Exceeds OE Specifications The Alliant AP63495 Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor is a direct, factory replacement sensor for your 2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke.
Where is the position sensor on a 6.0 Cam?
It wont be there it’s front left side of the block and a magnetic sender peg is in the front of the cam and when it passes the magnetic field is read by the sensor…..thats the extent of my knowledge …..but it’s not in the back…maybe he was thinking IPR or ICP (early 6.0) or something else???
Where is the CPS sensor on a 6.0L?
I can tell you for 100% SURE that he is/was Full of ****! 1) The CPS on the 6.0L is mounted in the SIDE of the block, at the FRONT, opposite of the Crank Pos Sensor! 2) They are not “indexed” at all. 3) You cannot do anything to change the CPS position, it mounts in a HOLE drilled into the block.
What kind of connector does Ford 6.0L Powerstroke use?
The Alliant AP0040 G2.8 Injector Connector for your 2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke is a replacement harness connector for the G2.8 injectors in your truck. This connector provides a cost effective alternative to replacing the complete injector when only the connector is damaged.
How to replace the crankshaft position sensor on a Ford F-150?
3) Crankshaft position sensor Figure 3B. Crankshaft position sensor mounting bolt for V8 engine. Clean the sensor mounting surface, then install the new sensor to the engine. Tighten the mounting fastener (s) to 89 inch-lbs, then reconnect the electrical connector.
How does the Hall effect work on a camshaft sensor?
The Hall effect design has three wires going to it: reference, signal and ground. The PCM sends a reference DC voltage to the camshaft sensor and the sensor sends a return signal back to the PCM in accordance with camshaft position.
How does the magnetic reluctance sensor work on a camshaft?
The PCM sends a reference DC voltage to the camshaft sensor and the sensor sends a return signal back to the PCM in accordance with camshaft position. On the other hand, the magnetic reluctance sensor has two wires and creates its own AC voltage when it passes by a reluctor wheel inside the engine.

Is the camshaft position sensor on the Ford f4tz-12k073-c?
Just replaced my OEM gray version (F7TZ-12K073-B) with this dark blue and purple version (F4TZ-12K073-C). Ford and others have said it will only work on the 94-96 models of the 7.3, but many of the forums and some resellers suggest that it will work for 94 through 03.

Can a Ford Excursion work with a camshaft sensor?
Ford and others have said it will only work on the 94-96 models of the 7.3, but many of the forums and some resellers suggest that it will work for 94 through 03. I can say with certainty that it worked on my 2002 Excursion and that it is idling much better.
