Avatec ® (lasalocid sodium) is a Type A Medicated Article for the prevention of coccidiosis in poultry.
Is Avatec an antibiotic?
Avatec® 150G is an anticoccidial feed additive containing 15% of the active ingredient lasalocid A sodium, an ionophore anticoccidial. Lasalocid sodium has a selective antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacterial species while many Enterobacteriaceae are naturally resistant.
What is Bovatec used for?
BOVATEC ® Type A Medicated Article is an ionophore that helps boost feed efficiency and gain in confined beef cattle and gain in pasture cattle. BOVATEC is used for control of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria bovis and E. zuernii in beef cattle up to 800 pounds.
What is Flubenvet used for?
Flubenvet® is licensed to treat roundworms, hairworms, caecal worms and gapeworms in pheasants and partridges, killing both mature and immature stages and will also kill any eggs in the gut at the time of treatment.

Coccidiostats are compounds that are widely used as feed additives to prevent and treat coccidiosis, a contagious disease affecting mainly poultry, and which is associated with warm and humid conditions, as can be found on poultry farms.
Is coccidiosis a bacterial disease?
Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract of animals caused by coccidian protozoa. The disease spreads from one animal to another by contact with infected feces or ingestion of infected tissue. Diarrhea, which may become bloody in severe cases, is the primary symptom.
Is Bovatec safe for chickens?

Is lasalocid toxic to horses?
Lasalocid appears to be less toxic to horses compared to monensin. Affected horses develop several clinical syndromes, which appear to be dose related.
Is Flubenvet harmful to humans?
Flubenvet 1 % Medicated Premixture Accidental ingestion by humans should be avoided. May cause sensitisation by skin contact. May cause skin and eye irritation.
Does Flubenvet treat Gapeworm?
It is the only wormer that will kill Gapeworm and if this is suspected, give Flubenvet immediately. Follow any instructions for meat or egg withdrawal given by the dispenser, although the Flubenvet 1% does not now need an egg withdrawal period. These will not kill Gapeworm but can help prevent other worms.

Coccidiostats are antiprotozoal agents that act on coccidia parasites by inhibiting reproduction and retarding the development of the parasite in a host cell. They are most commonly used in poultry populations by addition in the feed at the authorized levels and observing the prescribed hygiene requirements.
Are coccidiostats antibiotics?
Because the US classifies coccidiostats as antibiotics, they are not used in these chains. European broiler farmers do not want measures that would not allow the use of coccidiostats in feed.

Use Avatec ® continuously in the feed to provide from 68 g per ton (0.0075%) to 113 g per ton (0.0125%) lasalocid concentration. The dosage range allows adjustment of drug level to severity of exposure. The higher levels are indicated for severe exposure.
