How to turn the instrument panel lights on and off?
Despite quite a bit of hunting I cannot figure out how to turn the instrument panel lights on and off in the Cessna 172 :- ( Any advice would be much appreciated!!! Out of memory should be the knobs at the lower left corner of the panel. Not sure how accurate it is but one keyboard reference I’m looking at says:
Why does the instrument cluster shut off intermittently while driving?
The batt light goes on and the entire instrument cluster (spedo fuel turbo temp etc ) shuts off .. when it’s off the climate control won’t work and the sun roof won’t work . Sometimes the abs light comes on before it shuts off. Turns on and off intermittently. I’ve checked fuses and cleaned battery connections and ground connections .. please help

It was causing some REALLY weird things to happen: dash lights flickering, seat heaters wouldn’t work for 2 to 3 minutes after a start, then the things I described above started happening. Note that the “fx_vclight” should be assigned to type #10, which is the cabin light circuit…The first part of editing the aircraft.cfg file is simple enough….It’s the XML “gauge” that is slightly more difficult.
What to do when your lights go off in your instrument panel?
The proper response to this problem is to disconnect the wiring harness plug at each of the (4) wheel sensors – check for wire damage (chaffing, bare wire, kinking, etc) – check for dirt and/or corrosion – clean both the plug and contacts – use liberal dielectic grease – and reinstall the plug.

Cleared the code, checked o2 operation and everything was fine. Long story short, the battery was going bad. It was causing some REALLY weird things to happen: dash lights flickering, seat heaters wouldn’t work for 2 to 3 minutes after a start, then the things I described above started happening.
