How do you adjust wheel camber?

How do you adjust wheel camber?

Small metal shims are needed to do any camber adjustment. Loosen the upper control arm where it meets the shock tower. Place a 1/32 inch shim for every 1/2 degree of camber that is needed. Tighten the upper control arm and replace the tire.

What is the theory of rear camber on a corvette?

Theory Wheel “Camber” is a measurement of the “tilt” of the wheel from the vertical plane as seen from the front or the rear of the vehicle. If the top of the wheel tilts inward towards the vehicle centerline, the wheel is said to have “Negative Camber.” If the wheel tilts outward at the top, the wheel has “Positive Camber.”

Can a rear wheel alignment be done on a corvette?

Rear Alignment must always be adjusted before a front wheel alignment on a C3 Corvette. Demonstration is done on a 1969 Corvette. My hope in making this video is to only help others out. Part One is for the rear wheels and part two is for the front wheels and test drive after alignment.

What are the rear wheel bearings on a 1963 Corvette?

The 1963-1982 Corvette rear wheel bearings should also be held as close to the .001 play as possible. The bearings are not adjustable except during wheel bearing replacement/servicing. Shims are used to set end-play during bearing service and require specific tools and equipment.

How big should the front wheels be on a corvette?

You should always consider driver, fuel, and cargo weights when your Corvette is aligned. Please note that these specs are symmetrical. For examples, when we recommend 1/8″ toe in, that indicates 1/16″ on each front wheel for a total of 1/8″ total toe in.

How do you set the Castor on a corvette?

Measure the camber of each wheel and write it down. For the front, measure castor by turning the wheel full lock to left and measuring the camber on both wheels. Then, turn the wheel full lock to the right and repeat. Subtract the two left camber numbers to get the left wheel castor setting, and do the same for the right side. Figure 2.

How do you adjust the front tires on a corvette?

For front toe, use a steel tape measure to measure the distance between the two front tires and then the rear. Then, subtract those numbers to find the toe. Front toe can be adjusted from under the car. Simply loosen the jamb nut on the tie rod end and turn the steering arm to adjust.
