How do I stop my oil Blowby?

How do I stop my oil Blowby?

The best way to minimize crankcase vapor pressure – blow-by – is to seal the engine as efficiently as possible from cylinder pressure. One way is to minimize ring end gaps by custom setting the end gaps on the top two rings to fit the way the engine will be run.

How do you test for excessive blow-by?

However, one of the tell-tale signs of excessive blow-by is white smoke billowing from the oil-fill tube or opening on a valve cover. To check this, set the oil-filler cap upside down on the tube or opening. If it immediately blows off, there definitely is too much crankcase pressure.

Why is the oil blowing out the blow by?

You can’t post conmments that contain an email address. the oil blows out due to excessive crankcase pressure. more than likely a piston has a hole in it or it needs rings. You can’t post conmments that contain an email address. SOURCE: I have a 98 dodge 24 valve cummins.

What to do if oil comes out of blowby tube?

When you block the blowby at high pressure the dipstick is the first place that blows out, your thumb will usually feel the higher than normal pressure instantly though. A manometer is cinch to make and will cost you 10¢. All you need is loop of clear tubing filled partially with water taped to a 1×4” and  a tape measure.

What should the pressure be on a Cummins blowby?

Not sure on a Cummins but other diesel engine makers say the pressure coming out the blowby shouldn’t exceed 5 psi. Anymore indicates a valve or ring problem. If you don’t have a gauge setup to measure it just put your thumb over the end of the blowby, you should be able to hold it there without blowing off.
