Make sure the wires are in proper order according to firing order. It’s 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 if you have a HO 302 or 351W. Is it a bad sign if you know the firing order by heart?

The Cam chaft in a 1982 mustang GT 302 was taken from the merc marine engine and they turne the same way as a a car! Like Mavman said there are both left and right hand engines for twin engine applications! standard sterndrive engines turn the same as a car! I am new to the forum.

A clockwise marine engine works just like an automotive engine…cam and crank both turn clockwise when viewing from the front of the engine. A counter rotating marine engine turns counterclockwise when viewing standing in front of the engine. The crank rotates opposite an automotive engine.
