Why does Ford shift into 4 high but not 4 low?
If you disconnect that, it will still be in low range. odds are that it is the motor, but removing it will not solve your problems. I would take it off, try to shift and then see if it moves. if not, replace it. if it does, its your transfer case.

Key on, engage 4×4 and try to turn the front drive shaft. If it turns it is a problem with the transfer case. If it doesn’t it is a front axle engagement problem. Shut of the truck ( still jacked up, and supported ) remove the vac lines from the IWE.
How did I get stuck in 4WD Low?
After rapping on the transfer case motor and pushing two high it finally kicked out and went into 2H. While in two high i was able to switch in between 2H and AWD. While in AWD i shut off engine. truck shook and it knock me back down into 4LO. Any ideas? Its the encoder motor sensor.

Why is my Ford Ranger stuck in 4 low?
Tory Hi my 2007 Ford Ranger is stuck in 4 low its auto and has switch but no light in showing at all in switch and tried the above but did not work not frozen tried backing it up and everything in neutral etc. It went into 4 low after it was in 4 wheel drive and parked and now no light in switch can anyone help??
