Why does my tach stop working on my Dodge Ram?

Why does my tach stop working on my Dodge Ram?

It’s a ’99 1500 Ram Sport with the 5.2L and an automatic transmission. It doesn’t appear to be affecting anything. Haven’t had a chance to look at it closer since my wife is out shopping and I’m watching our son. Not sure where to start looking. Thanks in advance for your help. Hmmm that’s an interesting one. Could be a sensor or even the cluster.

What should I do about my 2006 Dodge Ram tachometer?

My 2006 tach was erratic and then finally it spun around 360 deg. and stayed under the stop peg. Cure; 1.) With vehicle off, push the trip reset button and hold. 2.) without starting, turn the key on. 3.) keep your finger on the trip reset button and watch the magic happen. Your welcome.

What to do when your tach stops working?

You can find out if there is a problem with your actual gauge cluster, You can run a gauge check by holding the trip odometer reset button (ignition off), then turning on the ignition (“On” position right before the “start” position). Hold the trip reset button until the odometer displays “CHEC”.
