What’s the problem with my Chrysler Town and Country?
For several months, I experienced intermittent engine surging; particularly at 50-60 mph. Engine rpm would suddenly fluctuate causing the car to slightly jerk. I replaced plugs, wires, gas filter, cleaned injectors, cleaned throttle plate, other to try to fix the intermittent speed fluctuation problem.

We have been experiencing this EXACT same problem with our 2008 Chrysler T&C Touring. I experienced problems with it early in the fall (we bought it last winter)- the same slipping sound between 2nd and 3rd gears. It wouldn’t go into gears a few times also (especially reverse).

Surge at steady speed feels like a skip reminds me of loss of traction. At light acceleration, there is some feeling of engine missing/trans surging. Dealer said it was not detected but installed updated software. Still happens especially when engine is cold. Replacing the EGR fixed the surging issue I have had for a couple of years.

No error codes but van will occasionally not shift and is stuck in lower gear. When this happens, turning the car off and then back on has always reset the issue and it drives normal. I assume it is electrical as fluid looks good.

There is no pattern to when it shuts down. I may drive 20 miles with no problem and other times it will shut down 5 or 6 times within that distance. Had it to the Chrysler garage for repairs and $1400 later the problem was still there.
