What to do if your multimeter is not working?
If the multimeter doesn’t turn on or the display is dim you may have a weak or dead battery. Simply replace the battery and you should be good to go. If your multimeter powers up but you aren’t getting accurate measurements you may have faulty test leads.
When is it time to replace a digital multimeter?
The Digital Multimeter Troubleshooting and Repair is a basic repair process. If the multimeter is still malfunctioning, it may be time to replace it.
How many ohms are needed for death by multimeter?
Your typical multimeter uses a maximum of 9V to test resistance. Using Ohm’s law and a pessimistic 1000 ohms for the human, your multimeter would need to put 1000 ohms * 0.05A = 50V across its terminal s. Alternatively, for death by 9V, you’d need to have an internal resistance of 9V / 0.05A = 180 ohms
What do you need to know about a multimeter?
A digital multimeter (DMM) is an essential testing tool for any electrical project. A basic DMM combines the tasks of measuring the 3 fundamental electrical properties for a given component/circuit, Voltage (Volts), Current (Amps), & Resistance (Ohms).

Can a multimeter kill the same way as an electric chair?
Enough of this sort of thing, and death is entirely feasible. So even if a multimeter wouldn’t kill in the same way as an electric chair, it could still conceivably kill. I haven’t heard of this actually happening though. I like it!
