With regards the heating, check the electrical connection to the HCV is clean and properly pushed home. If not it could be the Heater Control panel has gone behind the heater control knob. I would try an electrical tester on the lead to the HCV to check there is a voltage change when you adjust between hot and cold.

How long does it take to change a Ford Ka heater?
If you look at the back of the engine, there should be two pipes going into the middle of the bulkhead. These attach to the HCV. There are two other pipes connected to the other side of the HCV that go into your heater matrix. Should take about half an hour to change.
