Drill a 1/8” hole through the spacer, and slide the cable through. Heat the spacer with the cable passing through it cherry red and melt in some thin flux covered brass brazing rod. I used a MAPP gas bottle with a standard propane tip and it worked fine as long as the material I had it clamped to wasn’t too thick.
