How big are the brake lines on a Chevy Silverado?
The 2 lines to the front cylinders are 1/4 ” line with 1/4″ fittings at the calipers and 5/16″ fittings with 1/4″ line at the ABS. You can’t buy these lines. All the mechanics I talked to after making the assumption that the 1/4″ line would have 1/4″ fittings could buy the 5/16″ fitting with the 1/4″ bore and they made their own lines.
Are there any brake lines that need replacement?
The brake lines in 1999-2007 GMT800 Silverado’s, Sierra’s, and Suburbans are very prone to rusting out and needing replacement. For individuals who live in “salt” states, where cities commonly salt the roads to prevent ice, the brake line rusting is even more common.
Why are my brake lines not working properly?
Additionally, portions of the GMT800 brake lines are made of rubber. Over time through normal wear and tear, this rubber can get deformed and cause air pockets in the lines when pressed. The end result is not enough brake fluid getting to the calipers for the brakes to function properly.

Is there a bleed cycle for ABS brakes?
I came across a new OBDII scanner made by OTC that has the ABS brake bleed cycle built in all for $200! I was skeptical that it would actually work but low and behold it not only worked just like the Tech2 but it also helped me find a dirty LF wheel sensor that helped me restore my brakes.
