Why is there no fuel reaching the fuel pump?
There is no fuel reaching the fuel pump and then not the carburetor. Can the problem be the fuel pump and how can I fix it with replacing it. (If the fuel pump is the problem). Or may there be another problem? It is a 1970 Beetle that has been standing for 12 years.
What should I do if my fuel pump breaks?
Replace the fuel pump as the diaphragm has probably perished and split. Also remove the fuel tank and rinse through with some clean fresh petrol and the refill with fresh fuel. It will take some cranking to draw the fuel up to the carb but should work.

Where is the fuel pump relay on a VW?
VW Mechanic: Danny, VW Mechanic replied 12 years ago Ok, the fuel pump relay is the one furthest to the right in the row right above the fuses. Turn the key on remove that relay and check for voltage where pin 30 goes into the relay board. If you don’t have power there then you have a bad ignition switch.
