What kind of shift does Shimano Revo use?

What kind of shift does Shimano Revo use?

My bike is using Shimano Revo Shift (gripshift) RS-35 (see my picture). The one shifting the front derailer (the left shifter) does not click when I turn it but it can still shift the cable. How do I repair it? I don’t even know how do open up the shifter in the first place.

What kind of shift do I need for rear derailleur?

Indexed shifters click, and friction shifters move smoothly. For a rear derailleur, you would almost always want indexed shifting because the cogs are so close together. For a crankset with 3 chainrings, friction shifting can be handy for fine-tuning the position of the front derailleur. Opening it is simple.

Why does my transmission rpm keep climbing up?

It seems that the gears are slipping and causing the rpm’s to climb up. Check the transmission fluid and make sure that it’s full and red in color. Very dark red or black transmission fluid is an indication that the transmission is burning the fluid for getting too hot from either overloading or slipping gears.

What to do if your transmission is not shifting?

If the fluid is good and the transmission has been serviced before, then the clutches inside the transmission are slipping and it will need either rebuilt or replaced. If you need further assistance with your gears slipping on acceleration, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

How does gear shift work on MerCruiser Alpha?

Both gears are free to revolve independantly of the prop shaft and the shaft direction is only determined by the position of a sliding ‘dog clutch’ which slides along the shaft and engages with either the forward or reverse gear.
