Why does my Taurus think the gas tank is full?
Why does my Taurus think the gas tank is full?
Perhaps the fuel is too warm, and once it touches your -40C metal tube it evaporates more fuel than necessary thus creates additional back pressure making the pump think the tank is full? Just a thought. It’s been a while since I’ve fueled in -47C weather. I had my Taurus a few hours north of Sudbury at a no-name station.
Why do I have a problem filling my gas tank?
Try a couple of different stations and see if the same problem arises. A while ago, owners of previous gen Mustangs had a problem filling the tank. Only because it was creating too much back pressure unless the tank had under 50% capacity, then it would fill fine, over 50%, and it would constantly click off.
What to do if your gas tank is crushed?
Check the spout for any evidence that it may have been crushed under the clamp. Push check valve in tank with finger, the plunger in the tank should move freely down with light pressure and return to the top with a light spring force. If the spout is crushed or the valve does not move freely – remove and replace the fuel tank.
Why is it so hard to fill my gas tank?
Several variables, including variations in fuel pump nozzles, fuel flow rates, and fuel flow pressure may result in the premature automatic shut off of the fuel fill nozzle making it more difficult to fill the fuel tank. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
Why is my Montego tank not filling up?
Some 2005-2007 Five Hundred, Montego and Freestyle vehicles may experience premature automatic shut off of the fuel fill nozzle. Several variables, including variations in fuel pump nozzles, fuel flow rates, and fuel flow pressure may result in the premature automatic shut off of the fuel fill nozzle making it more difficult to fill the fuel tank.
Why does my fuel pump keep shutting off?
NOTE THIS CONDITION MAY STILL OCCUR EVEN AFTER THE REPAIR BELOW IS COMPLETE. SOME FILLING STATION PUMPS MAY DELIVER FUEL AT A RATE GREATER THAN THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (DOT) SPECIFICATION, OR MAY USE NOZZLE DESIGNS THAT ARE OVERLY SENSITIVE AND TEND TO SHUT OFF PREMATURELY. THIS IS NORMAL. It is not necessary to complete all steps listed.
