When to replace a cap or rotor on a car?

When to replace a cap or rotor on a car?

When you perform a maintenance function and the car runs worse after, you have to review the maintenance function first. If you replace the wires, it is often also a good idea to replace the cap* and rotor* because they age similarly. (*A LeSabre still has those, I think).

Why does my Buick not have a cap and rotor?

Your Buick doesn’t have a cap & rotor the ecm tells the coils when to fire. i would double check the wires to make sure correct wire going to the right plug. it cold be a crank sensor or a coil going bad the car has 3 coils on it. the coils how do they look where the wires conect to them is the post clean or is it pitted or corrioded

What should I do if my coil pack fails?

When the coil packs fail, they can be slightly different to diagnose. The easiest way is to move the suspected coil pack to another cylinder; if the misfire changes to the new cylinder, then the coil pack is the cause. Coil packs are normally replaced as a set.

When to replace plugs and wires but still misfires?

Already replaced plugs/wires and going to replace 3 coils before sending it to a mechanic for diagnosis. Although there are a few mechanics who start throwing parts at a problem a real mechanic does the diagnosis and finds the real problem before replacing parts.

Is there a way to turn on the fuel pump?

There’s no way you have no signal, but then starting the truck by adding fuel will then turn on the injectors and pump. That’s just crazy. Good luck with that one. Once the truck starts and is running you can remove the jumper to the fuel pump and it will continue to run.

Can a bad fuel pump start a truck?

Yes and have nothing. Well getting to start by adding fuel to the throttle body is not going to turn on some special switch that will send a signal to the pump and injectors. I’m sure you probably just have a bad fuel pump that doesn’t have enough pressure or volume to start the truck, but at running speed can keep up.
