Good morning, I bought a 2014 ram 3500 with 35,000 miles on it. Right after I bought It the water in fuel light came on, not knowing the truck I took it in and changed the filters and had the oil changed.

Yes, when I went to drain it I found the wire, thought it was strange to have water in the fuel so quick after the filter change. New to the Duramax, but trying to get up to speed. I got a WIF light on & off all the way from Wichita to Little Rock (475 miles). Truck never missed a beat. Light never stayed on. Previous owner said it happens a lot. The sensor was changed a couple of times & stealership did not why it continues to happen. What say you experts on the duramax?

Unplug the water in fuel sensor wiring from the bottom of the filter and see what happens. If the light stays on you’ve got a wiring or computer problem.

Why does the fuel light come on too late?
OH great Dude that is the most important gauge you have is the WIF light. Sometimes its already to late. You have pushed water past the filter and into the injection pump and injectors. Lets just hope it was a sensor and you didn’t get water in you injection system.. causes big problems.
