What kind of oil do you put in a R134a evaporator?

What kind of oil do you put in a R134a evaporator?

Most new R134A compressors come filled with PAG oil in the correct amount for the compressor size. Generally if you do a total flush job on the evaporator and condenser you would add a couple ounces of PAG oil to each and that would suffice.

What kind of oil do you use for a R-1234yf compressor?

Newer vehicles with R-1234yf A/C systems require a special 1234yf compressor oil specified by the vehicle manufacturer. General Motors recommends GM lubricants only (PAG-PSD1 #19260643 for 2013/14 Cadillac XTS, and PAG-ND12 #19299051 for 2013 Cadillac ATS).

How much refrigerant does a R-12 compressor take?

The old R-12 system took 4.25 lbs , so I’m going to start with 3.75 lbs of R-134A But what about the refrigerant oil? My new 134A compressor came with a 3 oz. charge. My original service manual states that the factory compressor should have 10.5 oz of oil.

How much oil does a 134a compressor need?

My new 134A compressor came with a 3 oz. charge. My original service manual states that the factory compressor should have 10.5 oz of oil. I checked on the website for 4 seasons and they say to either : refer to factory manual, check the tag on the compressor. and use a PAG oil. Not how much. Or even which PAG oil.

Can you add R134a to an RV air conditioner compressor?

If you have an older R12 based system you cannot simply add R134a to it although the system can be upgraded and modified to accept R134a. The compressor provides the basic circulation of the refrigerant through the system. It creates pressure differentials by compressing the refrigerant to high pressure.

Why does the R12 compressor work harder than the R134a?

Though, it’s not that simple. The reason is that the R134A runs at a higher pressure due to the size of its molecules being smaller when compared to those of the R12. Just filling your compressor with the R134A would cause your compressor to work harder due to the increased pressure and eventually create a leak to seal.
