As requested, I’ll list all of the problems separately so that it may prevent someone from buying into the Ford hype about this truck. BTW, this is my 2nd Ford truck.
Knock/Detonation – Detonation can cause your F150’s engine to blow. This is certainly the worst case scenario. Don’t ignore an engine that isn’t running right. You’ll do way more damage in the long run by not fixing the problem now. A leaking injector can cause all of the problems listed above, as well as:
Why does my 1987 Ford F-150 not get fuel?
I have a 1987 Ford F-150 that does the same thing. After it warms up, the engine sounds like it’s not getting fuel. I would check all the vacuum lines, and take a look under the ‘tomatoe juice can’ too…most likely a leak, possible the bottom of ‘the can’ has rust holes in it.
Does the Ford F-150 come in diesel?
Ford At the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, Ford announced that it would offer a 3.0-liter V6 diesel in the 2018 F-150. These figures are best-in-class, says Ford, though it’s worth noting that the class is rather small. The diesel F-150 won’t be the towing champion of Ford’s light-duty lineup.
It appears to be coming from the “easy fuel” capless fuel tank filler. It has not been overfilled, and no fuel is spilled on the cap or near it in the bottom. Seems like gas vapor is exiting through the cap and filling my garage with fumes. Vehicle is a 2012 Ford f150 3. 5l v6 ecoboost. Vehicle had a full tank of gas (30 gal tank).
Where does the fuel pump go in a car?
In modern fuel injected vehicles, the fuel pump sits right in the fuel tank and “pushes” the gasoline to the fuel rail (s). It is in the fuel tank because “pushing” fuel to the fuel rail is easier than “pulling” the fuel, which is what an inline pump would do.

Where does the PIP signal come from in a Ford?
The profile ignition pickup (PIP) sensor, which is what Ford calls the crank sensor, gets power from the ICM and as the engine cranks it starts to generate a crankshaft position signal (called the PIP signal). This PIP signal is then sent to and received by the ignition control module (ICM).
How old is ignition switch on Ford F150?
Again Robert, we would have to get a 12 volt test light on the RED/GREEN wire of the ignition coil and crank it over when it wasn’t starting to see if the ignition switch was good or not. I can’t condemn the switch, BUT, if it’s original, then it is 18 years old and nothing with moving parts like an ignition switch lasts forever.

I have a 89 Ford F150 XLT Lariat 8 cyl 302 that had a fuel problem. It turned out to be caused when the butterfly valve got stuck in the middle. The butterfly valve has gas lines coming from both gas tanks into just one gas line that gos to the high pressure fuel pump on the rail along the drivers side door.
I also decided to bypass the fuel tank selector switch, connecting the second (middle) slot on the left (power in) to the lower left slot (front in-tank pump). I also connected the second (middle) slot on the right (signal to fuel guage) to the lower right slot (front tank sending unit).
The internal (low pressure pumps) in the gas tanks start pumping as soon as you turn on the Key (KOEO) and pump gas out of the tank to the fuel line, down to the swap over valve.
