Only way to tell it is not fully closed is the note on the dashboard and when driving faster than 20mph you can hear the wind coming in through the small barely noticeable gap. Also trunk will not open.

In the boot / trunk there’s a large hinged flap across the whole width. If any luggage here pushes this flap up even a little then this is sensed (by micro switch or hall effect sensor?) then the roof will be stopped & “Soft top blocked. Remove obstruction and try again” displayed.

The trunk won’t open without a key…unless the windows get stuck halfway up. Then the trunk works with a key, but then the windows don’t. I had a wire harness fixed under warranty in the trunk the last time this happened, but this time the harness looks OK.

You can also bridge the top relay for a couple of seconds to see if the hydraulic pump start to run. Replace the convertible top relay if necessary, PN 0025421319. Next, check the micro switch where the divider locks. You know that trunk separator that you are supposed to pull out and engage it in this hook?

Mercedes Convertible Top Won’t go up or down. Convertible top moves very slow. This can be caused by low fluid level or air in the hydraulic lines. Air in the hydrauilc lift cylinders. It can be caused by binding of mechanical arms. Weak convertible top lift cylinder. Weak battery or ground connection.
