When to remove the VVT actuator from a camashaft?
When to remove the VVT actuator from a camashaft?
DON’T FORCE ANYTHING and remember that as soon as the Timing Chain is finally on the sprockets and the New Bolts (cannot re-use the old sprocket bolts) have been “Torqued to Yield” with the Torque Angle Meter… then the above tool should be removed before you forget it is attached at the back of the camashafts “Chance Favors The Prepared Mind…”
How does the camshaft position actuator work?
The Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoids are sent a 12v signal which is pulse width modulated. With the signal received from the PCM, the solenoids actuators open allowing engine pressure to enter either one of the two passages; camshaft advance or camshaft retard.
Do you need a camshaft phaser limiter for VVT?
If you want to upgrade your camshaft and keep the VVT system, you will need a Camshaft Phaser Limiter. If you want high performance from a bigger cam, you will need to delete the VVT system. (More on that in a second.) Engines with VVT will have a camshaft phaser actuator on the timing cover.
When to delete variable valve timing ( VVT )?
Eliminating the VVT system is required when swapping to a non-VVT camshaft. These cams offer higher valve lift and longer duration for more performance. A VVT delete kit removes the VVT components and replaces them with standard parts. At a minimum, they include:

How to clean the camshaft position actuator solenoid?
Ease of removal depends on how nasty it is around the seem. Mine took a bit of finesse, Let the oil drain from it before cleaning. Step 8- Remove the rubber O ring, that way the cleaner won’t eat away at it. Step 9- Using Throttle body/Carb cleaner spray and gently clean the CPAS.
