Does YMCA offer scholarship? Scholarship programs to colleges are part of the benefits YMCA offer to their host communities and internationally. Asides scholarship, it also strengthens the community by connecting people to their potential, purpose, and each other.
Is the YMCA free?

Are there any discounts for YMCA membership?
The YMCA is proud to extend a discounted membership to Public Safety Employees including police officers, firefighters, EMTs and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. Individuals and their immediate families are eligible for 10% off their monthly membership and a waived join fee.
Can you go to the YMCA without a membership?
Guest Guidelines: Additional use of the YMCA will require a membership or purchase of a guest pass. All guests must sign the waiver form and provide a picture ID that will be kept at the Welcome Center during the visit.
Do Y memberships work at any Y?
With Nationwide Membership, members can visit any participating Y in the United States and Puerto Rico through membership at their home Y, at no additional cost.
Why is YMCA so expensive?
The higher-priced YMCA facilities will be based on the income of the local people as well as the quality of the facilities. The fees start to add up over the course of the year, and they make the overall cost of membership much more expensive.
Does Medicaid cover YMCA membership?
According to federal guidelines, a gym membership isn’t a benefit that must be provided by Medicaid, and in most states, it’s not included.

Does YMCA membership include all locations?
Nationwide Membership enables you to visit any participating Y in the United States through membership at your “home” YMCA (your home location is the facility that enrolled you as a member and that collects your membership dues).
YMCA Scholarships. There is also a variety of national scholarships available from the YMCA. These scholarships are restricted to those who have been working at a local YMCA for at least a year, and that YMCA has to follow the proper protocol set out by the national YMCA association.
Does YMCA offer financial assistance?
The YMCA of Greater Houston is here for all. Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Y offers financial assistance to individuals and families for YMCA membership and programs. Financial assistance amounts are granted based on the applicant’s demonstrated need due to household income and/or extenuating circumstances.
Is YMCA membership free?
Yes. Full time and part time YMCA employees get a free membership. The free membership is only for the employee, however, not for family members. YMCA volunteers do not get free membership, only paid staff.
Is YMCA income based?
The YMCA uses a sliding fee scale that is based on both total household income and also the number of household members. We require supporting documentation to verify the household income and size and they also do consider special circumstances when determining and providing assistance.
