When was the GMC C / K HVAC unit last used?

This Heater AC Control Unit was used on the 1996-98 line of Chevrolet and GMC C/K Pickups, and on 1996-99 GM Suburbans, Tahoes, and Yukons. It was no longer used after 1999, due partly to unreliability, and partly due to upgrades to newer technology.

Why is the AC freezing up on my Silverado?

That’s not the condensor freezing up, its the evaporator core icing over. The usual cause of this is if the pressure switch on the accumulator is malfunctioning. This will cause the compressor to run continuously, not cycling like it should. Check that switch and do not operate the AC anymore before you find the problem.

When did my GMC Sierra air conditioner stop working?

I had a 2001 GMC Sierra that did this when truck was less the one year old (summer of 2001 is when it was). The dealer had the truck in the shop idling for a long time and the A/C worked perfectly. What was the problem with my 1998 Silverado Sierra?

One day last year, I started my 1998 C-1500 350 2WD, and surprise – the a/c blew hot air. I said a bad word. I only use the truck to go to the lumber yard, so I just let it be – until today, when it was 98F and I got stuck in a 10-mile traffic jam (I said many bad words). Dashboard switches appear normal, but a/c clutch does not engage.

Why does my evaporator freeze up when I Turn Off the accumulator?

If the switch was doing its job you would never have a freeze up. If your accumulator is freezing up then your evaporator is freezing up. The switch may be unplugged, the capillary tube may be broken, so no expansion of the gasses to activate the switch. It is a bitch sometimes to get to the switch.
