Farside, we have the same trucks (roughly). At cold start, mine jumps to 1400-1500. It quickly drops down to 1,000. After it warms up, it is consistent at 500-600. So I think yours is pretty normal. If it is sluggish, I agree with using a Top Tier fuel, and a can of Sea Foam or Amsoil Performance Plus in the next tank.
