Should be able to open it through the grill with a long flatblade screwdriver after some fiddling. I struggled with the key for about 10 mins the other day. Had just about given up on it then decided to push down hard on bonnet, right above locking latch whilst turning the key and it opened! Not sure if I just got lucky, but might be worth a try.

The lock mechanism seems to have an initial latch which loosely holds the bonnet and one lower down which I guess holds it a bit more firmly. The bonnet latches on the first one, I can’t see what happens at the second but the mechanism works when I push my key through it and I’ve tried spraying WD40 liberally just in case.

When pushing the screwdriver you should hear a click, this is the connection clicking back together, if you don’t hear the click don’t worry, as long as you maintain the pressure you will get the bonnet open and you can deal with getting the connection to click together after.
