I have been having a lot of trouble with a CAT 320C Excavator (S/N BDE00683) with 16 000 hours on the clock, which my boss just bought. The excavator is well serviced, engine looks and works well, but when under load, the engine revs go down very fast, it stalls and there is no hydraulic power. I can excavate only with the tip of the bucket.

A K906 green wire is the control from the ECM, this wire runs through the back-up mode switch (K907 green) located in the rear of the right hand console. This switch can be placed in back-up mode to test the solenoid also. Try it in back-up and see if brake releases. Your model should have two solenoids.

Is there an excavator that does not swing?
yes this is the only function that does not work. Yes the large lines do get tight with pressure with i try to swing. Yes we have removed the motor from the drive gear and the machine can be pushed around while it is removed. The smallest lines are for swing brake. It will connect to a solenoid to control it. Check for power to the solenoid.
