Where are the relays on a Fleetwood motorhome?

There are three large relays located in the box. All three have four electrical connection posts: two large posts that carry the battery current; two small posts that are used to operate the relay (s).

How are the relays on a motorhome operated?

They are operated this way so that there will not be a continuous drain on the batteries from the relay coils when the relays are closed. The third large relay is the cross-connect (aux start, etc.) relay. It is a non-latching relay and is only in it’s closed position when voltage is applied to the relay coil.

How to disconnect battery on Fleetwood motorhome?

I did a “field service” to the relay by connecting some “plumbers tape” (metal strap that plumbers use to hang pipes under a house) across the two large posts of the relay (thus defeating the battery disconnect function) until I could get a replacement.

What makes a NEMA 4X relay more durable?

A NEMA 4X enclosure protects the relay from washdowns, dirt, and corrosion. It has wire leads to hardwire to your equipment. Built to handle tough, repetitive-use applications, these are more durable than standard relays. These sealed relays meet UL Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, and D for use in hazardous locations.

Can a solid state motor relay be mounted to DIN rail?

With no moving parts, these solid state relays have an extended service life. Mount them directly to DIN rail. For use with equipment that cycles on and off, these relays meet UL 508 for air conditioning and heating. Also known as definite-purpose contactors. Mount these relays directly to DIN rail.

What kind of electrical system does an RV have?
