Where was the ignition located on my 93 S-10 Blazer?
Where was the ignition located on my 93 S-10 Blazer?
My old 93 S-10 blazer had an internal Ignition Module, inside the bottom of the distributor. I know this much, if those little PIA’s start winking out, you will see all kinds of issues similar to what you are describing.
What kind of engine does a 1994 S-10 have?
1994 S-10 4×4 pickup, 4.3L, VIN W. 215,000 on the truck, 40 or so on a GM crate engine. A week or 2 ago the truck started missing and surging anywhere but idle or wot.
What does the VIN number on a Chevrolet S10 mean?
Chevrolet S10 VIN decoder Every Chevrolet car has a unique identifier code called a VIN. This number contains vital information about the car, such as its manufacturer, year of production, the plant it was produced in, type of engine, model and more.
What causes a misfire on a 94 S-10?
Typically if the lower intake gasket leaks vacuum, it only affects one cylinder and causes a noticeable misfire all the time. On your engine, the ECM batch fires the injectors, it can not richen the mixture for individual cylinders.
How is my 1994 S-10 4.3 running?
Starts fine, even today when it was -15, fuel pressure 52 running, holds after shut down, newer plugs/wires/cap rotor, tested MAP sensor and tests good, tested resistance changes in TPS (with sensor out) and changes were smooth along range, unplugged every sensor I could find individually looking for changes, no luck.

Can You bench test a 94 S-10 4.3?
The good news is that they are testable. You can carefully remove it from the bottom of the distributor by removing the two screws and unplugging the wire clips, and have it bench tested at some of the better Auto Parts stores. Be very careful as the wire clips are brittle and will easily break.
How often does a 94 S-10 4.3 drop rpm?
After you take it out and drive it, it’ll idle fine for a couple minutes, then will drop a couple hundred rpms every 30 seconds or so for just a count, then back to normal. Any ideas? I’m pulling my hair out.
Can a bad throttle position sensor cause idle surging?
Idle surging can be caused due to other issues in the car, but if it happens in conjunction with other throttle position sensor symptoms, the culprit is often the TPS. At idle, the ECM will not get the correct information and the throttle will variate randomly causing idle surges. 3) Check Engine Light
Are there any problems with the Chevy 4.3 Vortec engine?
The 4.3 Vortec engines made from 1996-2002 (L35 and LF6) have been reported to have engine knock problems. In a properly functioning engine, fuel burns in even pockets instead of all at once. The pockets burn in even timing, in sync with engine cycles. Engine knock occurs when the fuel burns unevenly and out of sync with the engine cycles.

Where is the idle control valve on a Chevy Vortec?
The idle control valve sits on the throttle body and is responsible for adjusting the amount of air that enters the engine at idle, ultimately controlling engine idle speeds. At idle, the valve blocks a small amount of air from entering the engine, keeping idle RPM’s low.
What does it mean when your engine idle does not increase?
Use the command in the scan tool to increase the engine’s idle. If the engine idle does not increase, it means there is an issue at the idle control motor of its circuit preventing the signal from changing the idle. You can purchase a bidirectional scan tool at your local auto parts store.

How can I tell if my Blazer cylinder is dead?
If the cylinder is NOT ‘dead’, then this will have a negative effect on engine idle since it will get worse. Repeat this test on the remaining 4 spark plug wires (testing 2 at a time). The result? The result of the cylinder balance test was that cylinder #1, on my neighbor’s Blazer, was dead!
What makes a rough idle a misfire condition?
What complicates a rough idle/misfire condition is having the PCM not register any specific misfire codes. In my neighbor’s Blazer, the PCM wasn’t even registering a P0300, but it was obviously running very rough (at idle that is).
