Which is the AC clutch on a Dodge?
Which is the AC clutch on a Dodge?
Dodge is showing part 5003 681AA as the AC clutch. It is a whole lot cheaper to change out just the clutch as you could probably do it with the compressor still hooked up and full of freon so you would not have to get a new drier and refill the system. Not sure.
Why does my a / C CLUTCH not come on?
Cuz that would be a big clue to the problem. The A/C compressor clutch doesn’t come on at all. Whether it be on MAX A/C or “medium” cool. This could be my schematic. Even if it is I don’t know what half of it means. Don’t worry about not knowing what it means, thats what we’re here for. That’s close, but it’s not the diagram we need.
Where is the a / C clutch on a Cummins diesel?
The A/C clutch field coil to the front of the compressor using a snap ring (5). pressed onto the front of the compressor. engine accessory drive belt.
How to check if a / C compressor clutch is engaging?
Go to pin 41 of the middle connector on the pcm. You’ll probably have to take the connector off to see the numbers. If it’s dark blue/Orange then this diagram should work. Put the connector back on and start the truck. Then Back probe that wire with a pin and check the voltage on that wire with the truck running.

How does the AC compressor work on a Cummins diesel?
Connect a voltmeter (0 to 20 volt scale selected) to measure voltage across the battery and the clutch coil. 3. With the A/C-heater control in the A/C mode and the blower motor at low speed, start the engine and allow it to run at a normal idle speed.
What should current draw be for AC compressor?
For the acceptable A/C clutch coil current draw specifications refer to 24 – HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING – SPECIFICATIONS. Specifications apply for a work area temperature of 21° C (70° F). If voltage is more than 12.5 volts, add electrical loads by turning on electrical accessories until voltage reads below 12.5 volts.
How can I test my Dodge Ram air conditioner?
When we arrived home, I took the truck straight to my shop and tested the AC system. If you don’t have an advanced scanner that will pull all of the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), you can check for power and ground at the AC compressor clutch coil.
How to repair a Dodge Ram air compressor?
It is easy enough to pull the 4 bolts to drop the compressor, then pull off the clutch plate, pulley and coil, but trying to line up the coil and press it back on while on your back under the truck is not a whole lot of fun. It took a couple tries before I got the coil fully seated.
Why did my Dodge Ram air conditioner stop working?
Being a rather warm day, I cranked on the air conditioner and set the vents to blow some air into the rear seat. The AC started cooling of the truck quickly, but stopped blowing cold air about half way through the 20 minute drive. I hit the switch on and off and didn’t feel the compressor kicking in.
Where does the negative wire go on a dodge air compressor?
This is supposed to be the positive wire to the clutch coil. The negative wire on the compressor connector appears to go through the AC pressure transducer on the side of the compressor and eventually to ground.
