How does an AC condenser leak?

How does an AC condenser leak?

Perhaps the most common cause of a condenser coil leaking is the fact that the condenser is probably packed with dust, dirt, and debris. Even trace amounts of fluoride in household water can cause the coil to become corroded over time.

What are the parts of an AC condenser?

The Components of the Condenser Unit

  • Compressor.
  • Condenser Fan and Fan Motor.
  • Condenser Coils.
  • Capacitor.
  • Contactor.

Do you have to replace the condenser in your AC system?

Once they are bolted on and torqued to specifications you can move on to the next step. Inasmuch as you have opened the system to the atmosphere to replace the condenser, air containing moisture has been introduced. Therefore, the receiver/drier on your system MUST be replaced.

Where is the condenser located on an air conditioner?

A condenser which is located in front of the engine radiator and cools the refrigerant from the compressor before it heads to the evaporator located inside the vehicle. This is where the high pressure liquid is released into the evaporator as a low pressure gas and where the coldness is created.

How does the air conditioner work in a Ford Ranger?

The engine is what runs the compressor. If there is enough static pressure (the pressure in the system when the A/C is not running) which is over 75 psi, and the electromagnetic clutch is working, when you turn on the A/C, the clutch will engage the compressor which pressurizes the Refrigerant gas.

What happens when one part of the AC system fails?

When one part of the system fails to operate like the air conditioner then one part of the system stops working in this case the cold air. The AC system has four basic parts: A compressor, which is powered by the engine using a serpentine belt.

Once they are bolted on and torqued to specifications you can move on to the next step. Inasmuch as you have opened the system to the atmosphere to replace the condenser, air containing moisture has been introduced. Therefore, the receiver/drier on your system MUST be replaced.

What kind of oil do I need to replace my AC condenser?

Consult the Factory Service Manual (FSM) and pour the required amount of new refrigerant oil (from a new sealed container so there is no moisture) into one of the refrigerant line ports of the condenser. Typically, about an ounce of oil is required but consult your FSM.

Can a hard line be removed from an AC condenser?

Oils used with R134a are damaging to the eyes and skin. The style and exact removal procedure for the AC line will be different from vehicle to vehicle. In most cases the lines either bolt to the condenser or are a hard line that must be removed with a wrench. The lines attaching to the condenser will have o-ring seals on them.

Where does the yellow hose go on an AC condenser?

The yellow hose will go to the recovery machine. From the recovery machine this will go into a recovery tank. The blue hose will go to the low side (20-50 PSI in operation) pressure port. The red hose will go to the high side (175-300 PSI in operation) pressure port.
