Is HeliCoil stronger than original threads?
Is HeliCoil stronger than original threads? If a thread is "static" i.e. not likely to be done up and undone more than a few times in its lifetime, we would always say a helicoil type thread is the strongest option. There is not a lot of difference in strength between a Time-Sert and a wire STI and both protect soft alloys from stripping. Is the starter mounting ear on my Chevy broken? It's not almost broken off, so much as there's a small part of it already broken off at the bottom and the remainder of it is still on...
