Suggested the carrier bearing. As the noise really seams it is aft of the transmission. After pulling driveshaft im not sure it is. All seams quiet and tight. Same for u joints. I can feel a little slack in pinon but no more than normal. no vibration or loss of power during acceleration with noise presant.

I am unable to put it in gear without that noise. It sounds like it is coming from the transfer case. A friend told me sometimes they will get stuck between gears and by playing with the shifter for transfer case you can get it to go back. No luck ther.
