Even if they did this free I don’t trust them messing something else up for a later return no on free recall.

Why does the battery light come on after the alternator is replaced?

This would make the Battery Light come on. It is also possible that there is a problem with the fusible link or the alternator fuse for the charging system.

Is the ground fine going to the alternator?

Yes the ground is fine going to the alternator, both battery terminals are cleaned on both ends. At the connector level at the alternator no residue, plug looked fine. On very first event 3 weeks ago, the very first sign of battery being lit up at higway speed, I had both battery terminals with green deposit.

What was the problem with my alternator going out?

I was thinking that the problem was probably the alternator and as I was trying to get to my house the instruments began to go out. First the tach, then the speedometer, and then the accelerator pedal was unresponsive. I was able to limp for a little while, but it eventually totally quit.

Is there a problem with the alternator in Liberty?

Discussion in ‘ Liberty ‘ started by jonahb1987, Jul 10, 2019 . I recently had a breakdown. At first we thought it was the alternator, so I bought a new one. Had it installed at a mechanic and the same problem would happen. After being jumped, it would start but putter out in like 4 minutes.

Why is the battery light not turning on?

A weak battery or working charging circuit won’t turn on the battery light. Since you pretty much ruled out the alternator I would make sure to check your fuses. IIRC there are 2 fuses for the alternator (will check my diagram later). If your fuse check comes back fine, you likely have either a cluster problem or wiring problem.

How do you know if your GMC truck battery is dead?

One by one, pull each fuse in your fuse box. Check the multimeter after each fuse pull to see when the amperage draw goes away. Once you find the fuse that causes the amperage draw to go away, you at least know what circuit the draw is coming from.

Do you need a multimeter for a GMC truck battery?

You need a multimeter. With key off, unhook your positive battery terminal. Put one multimeter lead on the battery terminal and the other on the positive cable. You’re basically making the multimeter part of the circuit. Set the meter to read amps.

What should current draw be on Silverado battery?

I checked for draw through negative battery cable and got a similar reading of 1.26 amps average. I pulled every fuse and relay (and let me tell you that it takes a while when you do it by yourself and have to check each one individually!!!) and narrowed my readings to the following (listed as apparent current draw after fuse removed and left out):

You need a multimeter. With key off, unhook your positive battery terminal. Put one multimeter lead on the battery terminal and the other on the positive cable. You’re basically making the multimeter part of the circuit. Set the meter to read amps.
