Why do the vents blow out in my Taurus?

I have a 2014 Taurus SEL. Yesterday I get in the car and I discover I can only get the blower for AC/Heat to blow out dash vents. It won’t change to defrost, floor or anything. Anyone else had this issue and know what I need to do to fix it? Sounds like a bad blend door actuator.

Having the same problem, regardless of the position selected, air will only flow through dash registers. I can three of four actuators, but I cannot locate the defrost actuator, it appears by following some wires, that it is on the top of the dash on the drivers side.

I used a flat bladed screwdriver to turn the door manually and the air did go from hot to cold as I turned the door. On the passenger side behind the glove box I found another blend door actuator to the left that was a little tricky to get to.

Why does AC stop blowing out the defrost vents?

After installing a new blower fan motor the ac would only come out the defrost vents. The factory vacuum check valve is very hard to get to. So i bypassed it. Now it is working like it should and ac comes out the dash vents. I do not have a vacuum reservoir installed i will have to see if i will need to add it later.
