Why are my headlights quitting on my 1998 Chevy Silverado?
My headlights totally quit on my 1998 Chevy Silverado K1500. I tried pushing the emergency break up and down to try to make the switch kick in but nothing happened. I have the running lights just no high/low been when you turn the headlight switch on.

Re: Headlights are always on and I cant turn them off. I believe so because their is no resistance in the ambient light sensor when it is dark. In a sense it completes the circuit. Thats why you would put the resistor in. Re: Headlights are always on and I cant turn them off.
When do headlights turn off when battery dies?
They do not turn off until the battery dies! I tried messing with the switch, and when the headlights turn on, it won’t even let you turn the lights off with the switch, after about 3 minutes it will let you turn them off. But after you go back inside for a few, they turn right back on.
Why are my low beam headlights blowing out?
Theoretically the Daylight Running Lights should not cause early lamp failures. The factory setup sets the low-beams to half current when DRL is active by running them in series to lengthen life. Even if they ran at full current they should last years, not weeks.

You can change how long they stay on to fit your needs. Here’s how to do that: Make sure the headlight switch is in the Auto position. Make sure the key is set to OFF. Turn the headlight switch off. Turn the switch back to ON, then OFF again. Turn the switch back to the Auto position. Make sure the lights come on.

If the DRL lights stay on, that indicates a problem with stuck contacts in the DRL relay, a short to ground in the control coil wiring, or a problem in the ambient light sensor that tricks the BCM into thinking it’s daylight all the time.
