Which is bigger a 360 or a 408 stroker engine?

These engines are essentially the same, depending which block was used. Due to its larger stock bore, the 340 block yields about 6 more cubic inches than the stroked 360. The first test was a 360 block with the 4″ stroke (360/408) that was built to be what we call a “stealth” build-up.

Why did I build a 360 stroker motor?

After reading several articles on how many gearheads were taking regular small blocks and producing high power monsters out of them simply by lengthening the crankshaft stroke, I decided to build my own 360 stroker motor.

Is the 416 Stroker the same as the 360 Stroker?

At +0.030″, it is 416ci. We used the same cam as our earlier version, which is now our HUG HEH3742AL cam, with our 1.6:1 roller rockers – current part number 1506S-16, 1111 springs, HUG 1202 retainers and HUG 1322 locks. The block was prepared the same as in Test 1 and 2 with the 360/408.

For these 408 Mopar strokers we start with a hand-picked seasoned 360 block. The Complete & Dyno’d build level comes fully dressed with timing cover, oil pan, valve covers, harmonic balancer, intake, carburetor (optional EFI upgrade), distributor, spark plugs and wires.

What kind of stall converter do you need for a 408 Stroker?

For this build level we test each engine on our own in house dynamometer; you get the dyno sheet from the actual engine sold to you. The 408 stroker is recommended for street/strip use. This engine has an aggressive, lopey cam so a 2500 stall converter is recommended if using an automatic transmission.
