Why did my electric power steering go out?

A product is tested on a small sample of the different parts to a certain system, but until the factory that builds the parts starts producing millions at a time, you never know what may happen. Anything from a bad batch of steel or plastic, to a programming glitch or a factory that just plain had a bad day with it’s machines.
