What kind of oil to use on John Deere load control shaft?
I would only use John Deere Hy-Guard oil. Its a good bet the trans/hyd oil has not been changed in a while. I would probably drain and change ot along with the hyd filter and clean the screen. If it leaks any around the load control shaft, this would be a good time to put new seals, bushings, and shaft in there too, while the oil is out.

As long as the oil says it meets specs for JD 20-c it is fine to use. The original oil was a 303 oil and there is a couple of companies selling it (so cheap that no one recommends it) but the Hy-guard and the 20C is much better.I buy mine in 55 barrels from an oil supplier.
