Where are the fuses for the low beams?

Where are the fuses for the low beams?

These fuses are in the under hood fuse box. You can even stick your multimeter lead into each of the fuses slots. With the car on and the low beams turned on, one slot for each fuse should read 12V. If they don’t there is a break or burn inside of the fuse box.

What to do when your low beams don’t work?

Insert your lead into the remaining three slots and find which one reads 12V. That’s your “switched hot”. If there isn’t one that lights up, there is a break or burn somewhere between the light switch and the relay. After the relay, each headlight has its own fuse. So there are two more fuses you need to check.

Why are my high beam lights not working?

On some vehicles, particularly those with HID headlights or solid-state circuit protection (Zener diodes or high beam circuit breakers) installing the wrong bulb might result in intermittent headlight operation or no high beams at all. The wrong bulb might not ignite at the right voltage or draw too much current for…

What can cause a low beam headlight to be dim?

If it is, use a voltmeter to see how much power, if any, is reaching the headlights. If there is no power reaching them, there is a break in the wiring somewhere between the fuse panel and the headlights themselves. Thanks! What can cause the light to be dim except when on the high beam setting?

Do you need to replace both high and low beams?

Some vehicles use a single bulb for both high and low beams while others do not. If the high beam on the same side is also out, it may be one bulb. You do not need to purchase specific bulbs for each side, but identifying which is the blown out bulb will help you to replace it without having to start the vehicle again.

What to do when your low beam light goes out?

Disconnect the battery. Be sure you remember which side of the car has a blown out low beam bulb before disconnecting the battery. To disconnect it, use a hand or socket wrench of the appropriate size to loosen the nut holding the ground cable onto the negative terminal of the battery.

What to do if your headlight fuse is not working?

First, locate the headlight fuse and make sure it is intact. If it is, use a voltmeter to see how much power, if any, is reaching the headlights. If there is no power reaching them, there is a break in the wiring somewhere between the fuse panel and the headlights themselves. Thanks!
