Where are the engine senders on a Cummins Engine?
The following pictures will help you locate your engine sending units (senders) & sensors on your Cummins Marine engines.
Where is the coolant temperature sensor located on an engine?
The readings produced from the coolant temperature sensor are transmitted to the engine control unit, where they are utilized as data for regulating and maintaining the proper ignition time and the optimal fuel injection through the computerized approach. The engine coolant temperature sensor is usually located on the engine block or cylinder head.
Where is the temp sensor on an ist Gen Cummins?
Ist gen cummins don’t have a wire running to the fuel pump, it’s mechanical on the left side of the engine. Did you find the recommended reading relevant to this discussion?
What should coolant temp be when engine is hot?
With a good OBD2 code reader, you can also check the live data and the parameters of the CTS sensor. Check that the temperature value of the CTS is around 80-90c when the engine is hot. A lot of engine coolant temperature sensors have two wires and the sensor is controlled by Ohm.

Can a dirty MAP sensor cause engine problems?
Dirty or faulty MAP sensors can lead to rough idle and engine problems. They get dirty over time along with the rest of the insides of an intake manifold, and it’s good practice to service them by just cleaning from time to time. Or if faulty, it will need replacing. Is there an oil pressure sensor on the engine?
There is an oil pressure sensor on the motor, but it is simply a “yes/no” switch. Either the engine has oil pressure above the minimal level or it does not. However, you will notice the gauge does move around. When cold, you have higher oil pressure, and when hot the pressure will drop more.
When does oil pressure go up or down?
Either the engine has oil pressure above the minimal level or it does not. However, you will notice the gauge does move around. When cold, you have higher oil pressure, and when hot the pressure will drop more. At idle you have less oil pressure, and under heavy throttle you have more.
Can a 475 ISX engine have low oil pressure?
Not to scare you but you need to find the problem ASAP, when i was a driver i had the same problem with a 475 ISX , engine went to Cummins several times and as well they changed oil pump and did several other tests .
Where is the oil pressure sensor located in a Cummins Engine?
Where Is the Oil Pressure Sensor Located in a Cummins Engine? The oil pressure sensor on a Cummins engine is located behind the ECM harness on the driver’s side. To get to it, remove the fuel filter housing and loosen the Allen bolt from the ECM harness.
When did the ISX low oil pressure discussion start?
Discussion in ‘ Trucks [ Eighteen Wheelers ] ‘ started by Mr. Truck Fixer, Jan 27, 2012 . I have been scratching my head working on an ISX.
Why does my Cummins Engine have low oil pressure?
Thats is right – it is BOTH actually. On engines with DPF (2007 and up) soot in the oil gets so high (these motors recirculate WAY more exhaust gasses than pre-DPF) it overcomes the oil filter media and eventually blows the engines. I think Cummins changed filter or filter recommendation .
