When to switch to a gear drive Cam?

Changed oil 5k miles. it uses a qt between changes. I just found out from an independent wrench that I need to change the cam chain tensioner wear block. That is not mentioned in the scheduled maint, at least I can’t find. I have an extended warranty. So my thoughts are to change to a gear drive cam.
