Since the fuel pressure regulator is given specific air/fuel mixture directions from the PCM, it should always maintain the proper mixture. A faulty fuel pressure regulator can also be to blame for a sudden decrease in fuel mileage. These symptoms can also occur with a plugged fuel filter, failing fuel pump, or faulty PCM.

Mike, Bad wheel bearings are usually associated with humming noises, not grinding sounds. Grinding noises usually have more to do with brake problems rather than wheel bearings. Try reading our article about brake noise to see if that is the problem you are having.
Why does my steering wheel make a noise when I turn?
This can sometimes be an issue with uneven wear on tires or issues with the drivetrain, but when you hear these noises when driving in a straight line it’s possible that it’s bearing related, especially if the sound gets worse when you turn the steering wheel slightly to the left or right. Uneven or abnormal tire wear.
How long does it take for PCM to relearn idle?
If you don’t do a relearn procedure, the PCM will “hunt” for a new baseline idle. It will eventually learn it on its own, but it may take over a week of driving, during which time you will experience high and low idle speeds and possibly rough idle.

The mixture screws are for idle mixture only as they are out of the game as soon as the throttle plate is advanced above idle speed. You can look down the venturi during operation to spot an over-fuel condition but I’m thinking that is a waste of time. Start at the little carb fitter, then go to the anti siphon valve. What causes a P0300 ” Random Misfire ” code?
If the ignition components appear to be working normally (no fouling, no shorting or arcing), the problem is likely a dirty or dead fuel injector.
